EYE Con Summer Science Camp @Ohiopyle: Conservation in a Changing Climate
EYE Con is an incredible summer science experience for students entering 9th grade through 12th grade, as well as graduating seniors. It's a four-day day camp that engages students in real world conservation science. Students design their own investigations, work one-on-one with professional ecologists and biologists, carry out scientific research, and present findings to peers and professionals, all while enjoying and having fun in our local parks. This year’s camp is all about “Conservation in a Changing Climate.” Students will investigate what interests them about ecosystem monitoring and conservation in relation to climate change, which may include: Stream water quality challenges in the face of more frequent and intense storms Impacts of climate change on ecosystem interactions Spread of invasive plants and animals And more! EYE Con, which stands for Experiencing Your Environment though Conservation, is facilitated by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and Pennsylvania State Parks at Ohiopyle State Park FAQs Are there age requirements? This camp is for students entering 9th grade through 12th grade, and for graduating seniors. What are my transportation/parking options? Transportation from Pittsburgh is available. Please contact Adam (firstname.lastname@example.org) for information. Parking is available onsite. What should students bring? Each day students must bring lunch and a water bottle. Lightweight long pants, short or long sleeved shirts, sturdy close-toed shoes, and sunscreen are essential for EYE Con campers. Students should also considering bringing a hat and bug spray.
