Please join us for GPNP's 4th annual Pennsylvania budget session. It is our 4th year offering thought provoking insight from leading experts on the Pennsylvania state budget. This discussion will challenge the nonprofit sector to rise above the line items and examine the ongoing state budgetary challenges that continue to place publicly-funded, community programming at risk due to rising costs at the state and organizational levels. During this discussion we will identify on what topic(s) should the sector take a stand. Panel Participants: The goals of this session are: 1. GPNP members will understand the Governor Wolf's 2017-2018 budget proposal. 2. GPNP members will learn about potential cost-saving measures and the practical implications of government reform, such as the departmental consolidation plan proposed by the Wolf Administration. 3. GPNP members will learn about Pennsylvania's public retirement system and its impact on the long-term sustainability of community-focused programs. 4. GPNP members will understand existing state revenue options.   Who should Attend: Nonprofit Executives and staff * Elected Officials and staff General Public * Philanthropy    Panelist Biographies Randy Albright, Pennsylvania Secretary of the Budget Randy Albright is Pennsylvania’s Secretary of the Budget. He has nearly three decades of experience in Pennsylvania state government, and he brings to his position a detailed knowledge of the state budget and finances. During his career, he has drafted numerous pieces of job creation legislation, and has also played a key role in developing cost-savings and passing revenue generating policies over four administrations.   Fred Massey, CEO, Family Links  Fred Massey is Familylinks' Chief Executive Officer. Familylinks is a $20 million human services agency that provides integrated family-centered services focused on behavioral, social, and developmental health issues. In 2015, he successfully coordinated the affiliation with Vintage, Inc., a Pittsburgh based senior services community center. Prior to his employment at Familylinks, Inc., he held many senior management positions at UPMC McKeesport, Southwood Psychiatric Hospital, and Holy Family Institute.    Greg Mennis, Public Sector Retirement Systems Director, The Pew Charitable Trusts Greg Mennis directs Pew’s work on public sector retirement systems. The project provides cutting-edge research on pension and retiree health promises and helps states and cities undertake evidence-based pension and retiree health care reforms. Before joining Pew, he was assistant secretary for fiscal policy in the Massachusetts Executive Office for Administration and Finance, where he was responsible for retirement benefits policy, long-term fiscal planning, and the state’s Pay for Success program.    Representative Dave Reed, Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Representative Dave Reed is serving his eighth term representing the 62nd Legislative District in Indiana County. He was re-elected by his colleagues to be the majority leader during the 2017-18 session. In this role, he remains committed to passing responsible, on-time budgets, while focusing on policies to grow in-state jobs and spur job creation.    Moderator Bobbi Watt Geer, Regional Vice President, United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania; 2017-2018 GPNP Advisory Team Chair Bobbi Watt Geer serves as Chair of the GPNP Advisory Team. She is the Regional Vice President of United Way of Westmoreland County, now a part of United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania. Her extensive nonprofit experience includes serving as the President of The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County, several leadership positions with the American Heart Association, and Development and Public Relations Director for St. Anne Home.
